LUH-see
Punjabi yoghurt drink, blended sweet or salted and chilled.
Meaning & usage
Lassi is whipped or churned yoghurt, thinned with water and served chilled, either salted with cumin (namkeen lassi) or sweetened — often with rosewater, cardamom, mango pulp or saffron. Amritsar is famous for the malai-thick "ek baltiyan-wali" lassi that comes with a layer of cream on top. It is the perfect counter to a hot Punjabi summer or a heavy meal.
