Amrit, in Hindu mythology, is the divine nectar that grants immortality to those who consume it. It is often associated with the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) where gods and demons competed to obtain it. In Sikhism, Amrit also refers to the holy water used in the baptism ceremony known as Amrit Sanchar.
